NASA will be able to send unmanned aircraft to Saturn's moon Titan

NASA said that they are considering the possibility of sending a helicopter four unmanned engine (quadcopter) to explore Saturn's moon Titan. Accordingly, the quadcopter will be bringing up the universe by spaceship, then was released along with a giant balloon. Quadcopter have the advantage of being able to move quickly and easily remove the obstacles on the surface of Titan and conduct research on it.

Larry Matthies, a senior research scientist working in the laboratory of NASA propulsion has submitted the draft to call for investment from March. NASA also has agreed to spend $ 100,000 to serve the original study, focusing on the spacecraft. The research program related to the project is expected to start from January 07, and end on January 04/2015.

The purpose of the mission sent unmanned aircraft to Titan is to study the diversity of these organisms to live on the largest moon of Saturn this. Larry Matthies said, "We believe that Titan has a chemical reaction process and that is the amount of life support (Prebiotic). The research results will help us understand more about how life formed on Earth. "

After the Titan, the quadcopter will be released from the orb and sampling as well as photography; then send them to a nearby mother ship for analysis. The previous mission to explore Titan will fail. In a ship that is designed just to fly around on Titan, like a balloon, and it can not meet the surface. Whereas for a device operating on the surface of Titan would have trouble moving, it can not go fast. And by combining these two ideas together, NASA has found the solution.

The quadcopter will be under 10kg light weight and can be recharged via a radioisotope thermoelectric put on board the mother ship. This type of generator can generate electricity by converting the radiation into heat.

The idea of this design was only in the initial stages and the time frame for the mission has yet to be announced. But this could be quite long until a quadcopter can go to Titan. According to Larry Matthies must be at least 10 years before this can happen.
